Shafer concedes to Duncan as GOP nominee for Georgia Lieutenant Governor
ATLANTA - Nearly a week after Georgia’s primary runoff, the Republican nominee for Lieutenant Governor has been settled.
Results showed Geoff Duncan, of Cumming, leading David Shafer, of Duluth, by fewer than 1 percent of the total vote with nearly all precincts counted.

Shafer, by law, could seek a recount, conceded in a release sent to FOX 5 News on Wednesday. It read in part:
Shafer served at the State Capitol since 2002 and once was the Senate's president pro tempore. Duncan spent five years in the State House.

Duncan released a statement shortly after which reads in part:
Duncan will face Democrat Sarah Riggs Amico, a Marietta businesswoman, in the November general election. The candidates are running to succeeding Republican Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle, who passed on seeking re-election to run for governor.
