A man accused of being part of a deadly escort ring authorities believe is connected to at least one murder has now been accused of plotting to escape by killing multiple law enforcement officers.

Authorities had charged 20-year-old Cameron Jones in the shooting death of Barnesville resident Roderick Crawford. Crawford was reported missing in late December. His body was found in January in Upson County.

Police say Jones and 18-year-old Kiera Williams lured Crawford to his death through an escort service. Investigators believe it was likely an attempt to rob the 46-year-old, and that his robbery was not the first that the duo, along with another woman named Ashanti Dorsey, had been involved in.

Authorities are now saying last week, Clayton County Sheriff's officials have discovered a plot for Jones to escape during transportation to his planned hearing at the Upson County Courthouse on Monday, Feb. 4.

"Jones was soliciting an unnamed individual to shoot the transporting deputies in the head in order for him to escape," Upson County Sheriff Dan Kilgore said in a statement.

Kilgore says he was informed by Clayton County Sheriff Victor Hill of the possible violent threat, and both agencies worked to keep their officers safe.

This case is currently ongoing.
