MACON, Ga. (AP) — A deputy in Macon is helping a woman and her son from becoming homeless.
WMAZ-TV reports that sheriff's deputy Johnny Rowe went to perform a wellness check on a woman at a hotel last Wednesday.
He found the woman crying because she didn't have the money to pay for the room any longer.
Rowe tells the station that she was talking about how she thought her son would be better off without her and that she didn't know what else to do.
The deputy did not want her and her son to be on the street so he decided to pay for the room for the rest of the week out of his own pocket.
