Shooting claims life of 9-year-old Columbus boy days before Christmas
COLUMBUS, Ga. - A 9-year-old boy was fatally shot Sunday night in Columbus, police said.
Officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 1300 block of Floyd Road at 8:36 p.m. on Dec. 22. Upon arrival, they found Lakeith Livingston suffering from a gunshot wound.
Emergency medical personnel transported Livingston to Piedmont Columbus Regional hospital, where an emergency room doctor pronounced him dead at 9:03 p.m., police said in a statement.
The Columbus Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit is leading the investigation. Authorities have not released any additional details about the circumstances of the shooting.
