ATLANTA (FOX 5 Atlanta) - Atlanta Police are searching for a man who shot a woman in the back on Campbellton Road, near Myrtle Drive Wednesday, then crashed into another car as he fled the scene.
According to police, the shooting happened on Wednesday at around 12:15 p.m. in the 2000 block of Campbellton Road SW.
Detectives said the two were arguing in the woman's car in front of an emission's business when the man pulled out a gun and shot the woman in the back.
The 40-year-old female was rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital where she had emergency surgery.
The man drove off in her car and collided with another man in an SUV, both drivers fled the scene. Police searched with K-9's and by Helicopter, but could not find either driver.
"They were arguing, then I heard one shot, so I assumed hit her. It is heartbreaking to see someone do that to a person they know," witness Christine Hefner remarked.
Police expect to release video of the suspect later on. They said there were plenty of cameras in the area.
