Shots Fired Outside Atlanta Church During Funeral
ATLANTA - Gunfire interrupted a funeral for a victim of gun violence.
People were gathered outside Workhouse of Faith Baptist Church on Pryor Street Southwest Tuesday afternoon for the memorial for Tiffany Bailey. The young mother was gunned down inside her apartment on Cleveland Avenue on November 7.
Shortly before the service was set to begin, witnesses said a fight started in front of the church.
The crowd managed to break up the fight, but when participants drove away, they fired shots back at the building.
"When they got over there across the street, they started shooting back to the church," said Eddie Holt, a church deacon. "People [were] standing outside. They [were] shooting. Everybody [was] running this way."
Atlanta Police quickly responded and stopped one of the suspects' cars nearby on Lakewood Avenue. Officers found a baby inside the vehicle.
Neither the baby nor anyone at the church was injured.
Both the shooting and Bailey's murder remain under investigation.
