Rev. Martin Luther King Jr's birth home and historic church in Atlanta will remain closed if the shutdown is still in effect.

At a ceremony in Atlanta Tuesday honoring those in community service, the Dream Forward Awards, part of a formal kick-off the King holiday observance, organizers held the event at the King Center where Dr. Bernice King says access will continue through the holiday no matter the status of the partial government shutdown.
With the shutdown in its fourth week, government-funded parks, museums, and landmarks across the nation have been closed as lawmakers on both sides refuse to agree on border wall funding.
Bernice King says she hopes the shutdown ends soon because of all the lives it negatively impacts.
