ATLANTA - Police have released a sketch of a man suspected of stealing a car with a child inside on Monday in northeast Atlanta.
The mother of the child, Mishaele Walker, told police her vehicle was carjacked at the Burger King on North Avenue with her 1-year-old baby strapped into a car seat in the back. The leasing company was able to track the vehicle to a location a short distance away on Durant Place NE.
Walker told police she had parked her vehicle on the side of the restaurant with her child in the vehicle and the keys in the ignition. She said she went briefly inside to let her fiancé know she was there. She saw a man get into the vehicle and ran to the vehicle, according to police. She tried to open the door and pull the man out, but he was able to speed off.
Police said Walker was thrown from the vehicle. She received cuts on her hands and a bump on the head.
Police describe the man as being between 35 and 40 years old, wearing a skull cap, dark coat, and blue jeans. A sketch of the suspect was released by investigators on Thursday.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-TIPS (8477).
