South Fulton man with dementia missing as temperatures turn freezing

The search for a missing 83-year-old man with dementia in South Fulton is intensifying as temperatures drop.

Billie Coot Carmichael has not been seen since Saturday. He was last seen at a home along Hidden Brook Trail off Flat Shoals Road.

"I'm just totally shocked and surprised at all of this," a neighbor who did not want to be named told FOX 5.

Carmichael lives alone, but since the weekend, police have been visiting the house seeking clues to his whereabouts. Yellow crime scene tape and discarded gloves are still visible.

"My husband saw him on Wednesday going to the mailbox," the neighbor said.

The search is intensifying as a blast of winter air is expected to move into Georgia overnight.

"This is dangerously cold weather, so I’m concerned, and praying is OK. It’s just nerve-wracking," the neighbor said.

Anyone who sees him is asked to immediately call 911 or the South Fulton Police Department at 470-809-7300.
