83-year-old with dementia missing in freezing temps

South Fulton police are searching desperately for an 83-year-old man with dementia who has been missing for days. There's an added sense of urgency to find him as temperatures will drop into the 30s Wednesday night.

The search for a missing 83-year-old man with dementia in South Fulton has ended. The missing man's body was found shortly before 2 p.m. Dec. 18 near the 3600 block of Hogan Drive SW.

Billie Coot Carmichael had not been seen since Saturday. He was last seen at a home along Hidden Brook Trail off Flat Shoals Road.

"I'm just totally shocked and surprised at all of this," a neighbor who did not want to be named told FOX 5 shortly after Carmichael went missing.

Carmichael lived alone, but since the weekend, police have been visiting the house seeking clues to his whereabouts. Yellow crime scene tape and discarded gloves were still visible when FOX 5 stopped by.

"My husband saw him on Wednesday going to the mailbox," the neighbor said.
