State funds to put out landfill fire in South Fulton

The Georgia Environmental Protection Division plans to use state funds to extinguish a fire that's burned at an unpermitted landfill in the City of South Fulton for months.

SKYFOX 5 flew over the landfill Friday afternoon.

The fire has burned since September at the landfill on Bishop Road.

And the smoke has spread into the surrounding community.

The EPD says efforts to get the landfill's owner to put out the fire haven't been successful, so it will use state funds and resources to put the fire out.
