ATLANTA (FOX 5 Atlanta) - Tuesday is Rev. Martin Luther King Jr's birthday and the King Center's celebration of his legacy is well underway.
The center is holding a number of events to honor the iconic civil rights activist in the days surrounding his birthday.

One of them, called Students with the King was held Tuesday on Jackson Street.
Dr. Bernice King invited Atlanta-area middle school students to learn about her father's methodology of nonviolence.
Officials with the King Center say the center, as well as the campus, is open despite the government shutdown.
