Atlanta area leaders said help is available to keep youngsters out of trouble and engaged in summer activities.

And there are options that don't come with a price tag.

On Tuesday afternoon, police, school, and recreation officials outlined what is available.

The city runs camps, some of those include access to city swimming pools.

But there is more. The school system is providing more than just summer school.

Erica Long explained there are 65 sites that are already providing activities as well as learning. The number being served stands at more than 4,000.

Council members asked the school officials to publicize what is available more broadly because they complain parents don't know about it.
