The big game less than two weeks away, road closures began today.

If you plan on passing through downtown or anywhere near Mercedes-Benz Stadium or Centennial Olympic Park, you'll probably want to find an alternative route.

It has been a long road to Atlanta and Super Bowl LIII. Now that we know the two teams who beat "traffic" to get here, it's time to talk traffic.

Starting Monday, roads are being closed off as Super Bowl attractions move in. Atlanta police say this first round of closures is to make way for the Super Bowl campus and other attractions....

"We are trying to have as little impact on the area as possible. However, with a game this size and the events going on, we will have to close down some roads," said Sgt. John Chafee, Atlanta Police Department.

The roads include Baker Street between Olympic Park Drive and Luckie Street.

Mitchell Street between M.L. King and Elliot Street is shut down.

M.L. King will also be closed between Northside and Olympic Park Drive.

Atlanta Police say more closures are on the way.

"There will be some roads closed I believe on Wednesday, on Saturday there will be additional roads closed, and several more on game day," said Sgt. Chafee.

Atlanta Police are encouraging drivers to plan for delays.

"If they are driving in that area if they work in that area plan ahead, give yourself some time to get there look at rideshares, parking is going to be an issue as well in these areas so look at using rideshares, look at using MARTA," said Chafee.
