Suspect dies after officer-involved shooting in College Park
COLLEGE PARK, Ga. - One person is dead after an officer-involved shooting that left a car overturned in the parking lot of a McDonalds on Godby Road in College Park.
According to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, a Fulton County police officer responded to the Baby Grand Piano Bar on Old National Highway for report of a person struck by a vehicle. Upon arrival, the officer encountered the suspected vehicle and he, along with a security guard, discharged their weapons, authorities say. The vehicle continued to flee the scene, but wrecked a short distance away in the parking lot of the restaurant.
The suspect was transported to Grady Hospital, where he later died.
The names of those involved have not yet been released.
The Fulton County District Attorney's Office will receive the final results of the GBI probe into the shooting.
