DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. - The man accused of killing three homeless men and a popular DeKalb County hair stylist appeared in court on Friday.
Aeman Presley’s attorneys asked for more time to prepare their defense. The original trial date was set for Feb. 29, but that date will not be to hear motions in the case. The trial could start as soon as May 23.
Prosecutors believe Presley’s first victim, Calvin Gholston, was killed on September 26 of last year as he slept outside of a Stone Mountain strip mall. Presley is also charged in the death of Dorian Jenkins and Tommy Mims who were shot as they slept on the streets of Atlanta.
Smyrna hairdresser Karen Pearce was shot dead during a robbery in Decatur on Dec. 6 of last year. Investigators would later tie Presley to the crime.
Presley was apprehended after MARTA police stopped him for not paying to ride and found a gun on him that detectives say matched the murder weapon.
