SWAT standoff ends with several arrests after squatting incident

A SWAT standoff in Northwest Atlanta finally ended with several arrests. Residents on Delmar Lane told FOX 5 they feel unsafe living there now.

A 14-hour standoff in northwest Atlanta ended in several arrests Monday afternoon.

Officers were called out around 7 a.m. to the 3300 block of Delmar Lane near Interstate 285 for a burglary call. Witnesses reported several people entering a home under construction at the location.

When officers arrived, police say they saw a man walking out of the house, but when he spotted officers, he went back inside.

Officers at the scene ordered the man out of the home, but he did not comply.

A SWAT unit was called to the scene. Hours later, police say the team entered the home and arrested seven people without further incident.

The names of the seven people detained have not been released.

It was not immediately known if charges have been filed.
