Taqueria del Sol celebrates 25th anniversary with throwback menu
Taqueria del Sol celebrates 25th anniversary
In honor of the milestone birthday, all Taqueria del Sol locations here in Georgia are doing a little time traveling, offering up food from the opening day menu — and including throwback pricing.
ATLANTA - Here it is, folks, a true recipe for success: take one drummer from a rock band, mix in one Georgia Tech grad with an engineering degree, and toss in a shared passion for feeding their communities.
The end result is Taqueria del Sol, the massively popular taco chain founded here in Atlanta back in 2000. Do the math, and that means it’s the brand’s 25th anniversary — and this morning on Good Day Atlanta, we helped kick off the celebration with owner Mike Klank (the Georgia Tech grad), executive chef Eddie Hernandez (the rocker), and the team that continues to help make Taqueria del Sol a can’t-miss destination for lunch and dinner here in Georgia and up in Nashville, Tennessee.
In honor of the milestone birthday, all Taqueria del Sol locations here in Georgia will do a little time traveling, offering food from the opening day menu — and including throwback pricing! And as a thank you to the army of people who have long kept the operation running smoothly, all proceeds from the day’s sales go back to directly support the chain’s employees.
We spent the morning at the original location, which is in Atlanta’s Westside at 1200-B Howell Mill Road; there are also locations on Cheshire Bridge Road in Atlanta, and in Decatur, Chamblee, and Athens.
