Atlanta police are looking for a teen gunman who shot another teenager at the Elements Apartments in southeast Atlanta late Tuesday night.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found a 15-year-old teen shot once in the leg. He was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition.

Officers said this all started with a fight over a stolen cell phone. The teen who was shot was defending his 18-year-old brother.

Police said several male suspects were outside the brothers' apartment, and when the siblings approached them, a fight ensued. The older brother was pistol-whipped, and that's when his phone was taken.

As the suspects ran away, they fired one shot, hitting the younger brother in the leg. The gunman was also a teenager.

The group of teens is still on the run. APD canines chased down their trail and found a gun just a short distance away.

The gun belonged to an accomplice of the shooter. Officers said they know the identities of the teens involved and know the location they may be in, so they are hoping to make arrests shortly.
