Teen shot walking in southwest Atlanta neighborhood

A 15-year-old boy was injured in a drive-by shooting Friday afternoon in southwest Atlanta, police said. 

Officers responded to a call about a person shot at 1187 Montreat Avenue SW at approximately 3:15 p.m., according to the Atlanta Police Department. 

What we know:

Upon arrival, they found the teenager suffering from gunshot wounds to his left arm and back. 

He remained alert, conscious, and breathing before being transported to a hospital for treatment.

Investigators said the boy was walking with his sibling on Oakland Drive SW when shots were fired from a moving vehicle, striking him. 

What we don't know:

The shooter or shooters fled the scene before officers arrived. A description of the shooters was not immediately available.

The name of the teen has not been released. 

What's next:

Investigators with the department’s Aggravated Assault Unit are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
