Fulton County Superior Court Judge Robert McBurney noted before he sentenced McIver that the convicted murderer never apologized for shooting his wife during a 12-minute address.

"I tell you what is most telling, you had as much time as you wanted for me to hear everything you wanted me to hear, but I never heard you say you were sorry for what you did.  That silence speaks volumes, " Judge McBurney remarked.

McIver was found guilty of felony murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and influencing witnesses in connection with the death of his wife.

Diane died after being shot in the back while she was in the passenger's seat of an SUV. The conviction of felony murder carried a mandatory life sentence, but the judge ruled for the possibility of parole to be added.

During the sentencing hearing, prosecutors asked that four people be allowed to come forward to deliver victim impact statements, including Dani Joe Carter, the woman driving the SUV on the night that Diane was killed.
