DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. - A DeKalb County teacher is proposing a challenge to African American men following the recent tragic events across our nation.
Marc Cain said after the police involved shooting in Minnesota and Baton Rouge, he felt something had to be done and proposed the “Positive Black Male Challenge.”
“I just know it was put in my spirit to do this. I was just being obedient to what God put in my heart,” said Cain, a happily married man, proud father and 16-year educator.
Cain asked anyone who wanted to take part in challenge to meet him at Southwest DeKalb High School. About a dozen men accepted the challenge, talking about their accomplishments as professionals, family men and why they are positive black males.
“We are not all drug dealers or dead beat fathers,” said Cain. “No matter how small this is, just the first small step in trying to change the thinking in who we are and what we are.”
Cain said the video has received more than 100,000 views adding that it is sad that in this day and age he feels the need to do something like this.
“It's very sad, but something had to be done we have to control what is out there about us,” said Cain
Cain said he wants our youth to know that they should never give up on their dreams.
“Nothing ever comes without hard work,” said Cain. “If you are willing to put in that work you can do and be whoever you want.”
