Thieves fire shots at South Fulton homeowner

SOUTH FULTON, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - A South Fulton homeowner confronted car thieves and exchanged gunfire.

The South Fulton Police chief is promising to step up patrols in the area after the frightening encounter.

The victim says he spotted the thieves trying to steal his car early Saturday morning, so he fired a shot into the ground to try to scare them off.

Instead, he says the thieves opened fire on him, hitting his car.

Police have yet to release a suspect description, and say no arrests have been made in the case.
