ATLANTA - There is a makeover underway at a luxury mall in Buckhead. On the front of Phipps Plaza, the chic names of retailers of the rich and famous are on display.
But thieves are also attracted to the posh mall. They have struck twice in the last two weeks.
In the first incident, Atlanta police said the young men or teens (their faces were covered) went into an unlocked mall door at 4 a.m.
Using a piece of metal, they broke out the window to the Bally store and swiped jackets, belts, bags and shoes. Police said their take was more than $50,000.
On Wednesday, police believe the same gang returned to Phipps and tried to get into the Gucci store.
They were unable to penetrate the glass before hearing sirens as security alerted Atlanta Police.
Anyone with information should call Atlanta Police or Atlanta Crime Stoppers.
