Watch: 'Cutest, spikiest, tiniest crab’ takes the internet by storm
The latest internet sensation is a juvenile king crab that has become known for its appearance.
The NOAA Fisheries posted video of the crustacean, which was found during an operation in the Gulf of Mexico last August. The operation included collecting samples of deep-sea coral species for analysis.
"This is the cutest, spikiest, tiniest crab in the world!" the NOAA posted on social media.
Researchers believe the crab hitched a ride up from a depth of 3,477 feet in the gulf as a restoration team was cleaning up marine debris.
The NOAA said after the video was posted, they were being sent fan art of the "cute little crab."
