ATLANTA (FOX 5 Atlanta) - A tractor-trailer driver has been charged in connection to a deadly crash on Interstate 20 which shut down the busy highway in both directions Thursday night.
Police say 53-year-old Mario Polier was behind the wheel when his truck overturned between Interstate 285 and Fulton Industrial Road around 7:30 p.m. That accident caused a multi-vehicle crash involving a second tractor-trailer.
Police said the front of the truck hit the barrier wall, sending concrete and debris from the truck into the westbound lanes. Two cars were struck by that debris. One of the drivers was killed.
I-20 was shut down for several hours while crews worked to investigate and clean up the mess.
Polier is charged with second-degree homicide by a vehicle.
The name of the victim has not yet been released.
