Train crash and derailment causes residents to evacuate

A train has derailed in Byromville in Central Georgia.

That's according to the Dooly County Sheriff's Office which reports this happened at the overpass on Highway 90, and they say the train included some pressurized propane cars.

It is for that reason, they say, that they have ordered evacuations of anything within a half mile of the derailment.  They are urging residents to use caution while evacuating, and they should note that Highway 90 traffic is being diverted down Highway 230.

Also, Main Street in Byromville is closed while crews are assessing damage and cleaning up.

At this point, they tell us there are no injuries.

Keep tuned to FOX 5 for updates on this story.
