State Capitol tree lighting ceremony

The tree at the State Capitol was lit for the first time this year

About 25,000 lights were turned on during the annual State Capitol Tree Lighting Ceremony on Tuesday afternoon.

This year’s tree is a 25-foot eastern red cedar from Cobb County.

Governor and first lady Kemp help host the ceremony.

The event highlighted Georgia's foster care system and gifts collected will be distributed to over 9,000 young people this holiday.
