Tyler Perry plans to retire 'Madea' character in 2019

Atlanta-based entertainment mogul Tyler Perry made big news this week.

First, Perry announced he plans hang up his 'Madea' costume after 2019. He has portrayed the hit character for nearly 20 years in his plays, movies and shows. Perry also released his first  R-rated comedy film in theaters.

The acclaimed director joined other celebrities at Regal Atlantic Station Thursday for the premiere of “Nobody’s Fool,” which Perry wrote, directed, and served as executive producer. The movie was filmed in Atlanta at Tyler Perry Studios and stars Tiffany Haddish, Tika Sumpter and Whoopi Goldberg. It opens in theaters Friday, November 2.
