UGA football player arrested for battery
ATHENS, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - A scuffle outside an Athens bar has landed one UGA reserve defensive back in big trouble.
Latavious Brini was arrested Thursday night on a charge of simple battery.
Brini reportedly slapped a 23-year-old man after that man stepped in to stop a verbal altercation between the football player and a group of young women.
Coach Kirby Smart released a statement about Brini's rest that said the player's discipline would be handled internally.
"Hopefully good lessons will be learned," Smart said.
