Victor Hill gets probation, fine in May shooting

A judge sentenced Victor Hill, the Clayton County sheriff who accidentally shot a woman in May of last year while practicing police tactics, to 12 months of probation and $1000 fine on Tuesday.

Hill entered a plea of No Contest, stemming from the shooting.

On May 2, 2015, police say Hill and Gwenevere McCord were practicing police tactics in a model home where McCord worked. At some point, Hill drew his service weapon and accidentally shot McCord in the abdomen, causing life threatening injuries.

McCord, who made a full recovery, told police the shooting was an accident and Hill should not be criminally charged.
