Victoria plane crash: Man steps in to help pilot following crash

Five people were involved in a crash involving a plane and three damaged vehicles in Victoria on Wednesday.

Victoria Police Department reports a plane has crashed in the middle of an intersection in Victoria on Wednesday afternoon.

Officials report the crash happened in the intersection of Mockingbird Lane and Zac Lentz Parkway around 3 p.m. Roadways have been shut down until further notice and traffic is being diverted, officials say.

VIDEO: Plane crashes in Victoria roadway

Video from Tony Poynor shows the aftermath of a plane crash in the intersection of Mockingbird Lane and Zac Lentz Parkway in Victoria.

Victoria police confirmed three vehicles were involved in the crash. The Federal Aviation Administration reports only the pilot was on board the aircraft.

Three people were taken to nearby hospitals with non-life threatening injuries and one person was flown to an out-of-town hospital for higher level treatment, police say. The pilot is still being evaluated.

At this time, the condition of the individuals is unknown.

The FAA states the plane was a twin engine Piper PA-31. The plane was in the air for around five hours and took off from Victoria Regional Airport around 9:52 a.m., according to FlightAware.

VIDEO: Dashcam shows plane before, after crash

Dash camera video provided to FOX 26, courtesy of Tony Poynor, shows an airplane flying low in the sky before it crashed in an intersection of Victoria.

Based off the flight path, it stayed in the air after take off and circled an area northwest of Victoria before the crash. As the plane was flying back to Victoria, it started to descend from around 16,000 feet.

FAA states they will investigate the crash.
