Vigil for teen killed in Newton County shooting
NEWTON COUNTY, Ga. - Hundreds turned out Saturday night to honor the life of a 16-year-old teen gunned down earlier this week.
Quintin Martin, 16, was shot Tuesday while sitting in his car outside his Greenway Drive home near Covington, according to investigators.
Saturday night, friends, families, and neighbors came together against the backdrop of the now quiet neighborhood streets to remember, honor, and plead for any clues to who is responsible.
Roddrick Foster, Martin's father, said his son worked at a nearby Zaxby's and his manager drove him home after his shift. The two were sitting in her car outside Martin's home when someone opened fire. His manager was taken to an Atlanta hospital where she was treated and released, Foster explained.
Newton County investigators said they are not sure whether the shooting was random or if the shooter targeted Martin and the female victim.
They ask anyone with information on the case to call the Newton County Sheriff's Office or Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS.
