VILLA RICA, Ga. - A Paulding County man is accused of shooting and killing a man intervening in a domestic dispute at their Villa Rica home. 

Deputies were dispatched around 12:10 a.m. on Tuesday to a home along Windsor View Lane. 

According to the Paulding County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrived to find a body on the ground surrounded by people. The deceased was later identified as Abraham Suarez Santiago. 

Witnesses told investigators that Santiago, a friend of the woman in the home, came over to help after an earlier fight between the couple. He encountered the woman’s husband, Rick Joseph Reed. 

Investigators say Reed got into an argument with Santiago and eventually shots were fired, killing Santiago.

 The Paulding County Sheriff’s Office has asked the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to assist in the investigation. 

Reed was charged with murder and aggravated assault. He was booked into the Paulding County Jail without bond.
