Thursday Evening Weather Update

Showers continue across North Georgia on Thursday evening and some of that rain will change over to snow in extreme North Georgia, mainly above 2000 feet in elevation. Those areas are under a Winter Storm Warning. Here is the latest.

A strong cold front continues to bring chilly temperatures, cold rain, and even snow to parts of the state.

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 7 p.m. Friday for Fannin, Gilmer, Union, Towns, Dawson, Lumpkin, Murray and White counties.

The main concern within the advisory is for an additional one inch of snow with slippery conditions on roads.

Metro Atlanta will continue to experience cloudy, chilly and rainy conditions through the early evening hours Friday.

No winter weather impacts are expected for metro Atlanta, though the National Weather Service may put some counties in northeast Georgia under a Winter Weather Advisory later today for lesser impacts.

A few flurries are possible Friday, but temperatures will be above freezing until early Saturday morning where some areas could have a re-freeze event.
