The National Weather Service has canceled a Winter Weather Advisory for the metro Atlanta.

Rabun County and Habersham County remain under the advisory. FOX 5 viewers living in those areas can expect snow showers in the mountains from time to time with little or no accumulation.

Rainfall totals across north Georgia will generally be around a quarter of an inch leading to wet roads throughout the day. Any leftover moisture on the roads this evening will freeze creating icy conditions through Wednesday morning.

The bulk of the rain is moving out and now a surge of much drier and colder air will rush into our area.

Due to the weather, Gov. Brian Kemp announced on Monday that he will be closing state offices for nonessential personnel in the 35 counties affected by the advisory on Tuesday. City of Atlanta offices will also be closed due to the threat of snow as well as Atlanta Public Schools.

Officials are warning that a flash freeze is possible in some high-elevation areas, so travelers should be wary of hazardous conditions. Temperatures are forecast to fall well below freezing Tuesday night, so road conditions could remain difficult through Wednesday morning with black ice possibly being developed.
