Woman charged with foster child's murder to appear in court

A Henry County woman charged with the murder of her foster child is expected in court on Wednesday.

Jennifer Rosenbaum is accused in the death of 2-year-old Laila Daniel. Police said Rosenbaum struck the child in the abdomen with so much force the toddler suffered internal injuries, contributing to her death.

On November 17, Rosenbaum's birthday, the foster mother called 911 to report the child was choking on some chicken. She said she attempted to do the Heimlich maneuver and CPR. Rosenbaum said the child eventually stopped breathing.

Laila was rushed to Piedmont Henry Hospital and declared dead in the emergency room.

Police have been investigating the child's death since. Rosenbaum's husband is also facing child cruelty charges.
