ATLANTA - Atlanta Police released surveillance photos Wednesday, asking for the public’s help in identifying two men they said attacked and robbed a woman in a wheelchair at the Target in Atlantic Station.
“I think I was targeted for sure,” said Kim Smith who spoke exclusively with FOX Five’s Nathalie Pozo. “I am in a wheelchair, so probably a little more vulnerable than other customers in the store.”
Smith said she was shopping at around 7:30 Tuesday evening when she felt someone approach her in the aisle.
“I heard two footsteps next to me and so I kind of tucked,” said Smith. “Someone was in front of me and they punched me in the stomach, grabbed my purse and took off running.”
Atlanta Police said the robbers left Smith’s purse in an aisle, but did take her cell phone. In surveillance video you can see one of the crooks drop the cell phone and quickly pick it up before running out of the store.
“Our investigators are reviewing all the leads, including witness statements and the video that is available,” said Officer Lukasz Sajdak with Atlanta Police. “We do see these two individuals being apprehended fairly shortly,” said Officer Sajdak.
Atlanta Police believe this is an isolated incident and ask anyone with information on the identity of the two men to contact the Atlanta Police Department or Crime Stoppers, 404.577.TIPS. There is a reward of up to $2,000 for information that leads to an arrest and you can remain anonymous.
