Woman known as 'hamburglar' for breaking into Maryland McDonald's drive-thru gets jail time
WASHINGTON - A Maryland woman who was caught on camera climbing into a McDonald's drive-thru window to steal food and money in November has pleaded guilty to charges.
According to court documents, 27-year-old Jessica Marie Cross admitted to charges of burglary and theft and will spend three months in jail.
Cross, who has become known as the "hamburglar" turned herself into police in November after she was caught on surveillance cameras pushing herself through a drive-thru window of a Columbia, Maryland McDonald's and getting a drink from the soda fountain.
Cross was seen taking a box full of items while covering her head with her shirt and moving the box out the drive-thru window. Police say Cross stole $1,400 in cash, a purse, food and Happy Meal toys.
According to court documents, she was also sentenced to three years probation, during which she is required to get mental health and alcohol and drug treatment. She is also banned from going in or near the McDonald's she broke into on Benson Drive in Columbia.
