Woman shot, found near elementary school in Bartow County
BARTOW COUNTY, Ga. - Bartow County Sheriff’s Deputies have arrested a suspect in a shooting that sent one woman in the hospital Sunday.
Bartow County Sheriff Clark Millsap said they received a call around 3:20 p.m. on Sunday reporting that a woman had been shot multiple times.
Neighbors who spoke with FOX 5 said they saw a woman with gunshot wound walking along the road.
When they arrived at the scene, police located a 53-year-old Cartersville woman on the side of Highway 20 SPUR near Cloverfield Elementary School. She was airlifted to Grady Hospital for treatment.
After an investigation, police identified 52-year-old Acworth resident David Brooks as a suspect in the shooting and a warrant was issued for his arrest. Paulding County Sheriff's deputies took Brooks into custody around 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Officials reported that the shooting started as a domestic incident.
Brooks is currently held without bond at the Bartow County Jail. He's been charged with aggravated assault.
The investigation is ongoing.
