Woman smashes bus window in DC, hits driver with car in road rage incident, police say
WASHINGTON - A woman was caught on camera smashing a bus window and striking the bus driver with her vehicle in the District, according to officials.
DC police released video of the incident, which they said happened at the intersection of Bladensburg Road, NE and New York Avenue, NE on Thursday at about 6 p.m.
The woman was attempting to pass a Greyhound bus when she side-swiped it, according to witnesses. The suspect became irate when the driver the bus attempted to stop her from driving off, witnesses said.
In the video, you can see a woman using a car jack to smash the bus window. The video also appears to show the driver of the bus trying to stop the woman from driving off when she strikes him with the vehicle multiple times.
Authorities said the suspect, identified as 20-year-old Mariana Silver of Northeast DC, was arrested Friday evening. She has been charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, according to officials.
Greyhound released the following statement to FOX 5:
The driver of the bus suffered bumps and cuts to his arm but was reportedly otherwise OK. Greyhound told FOX 5 the bus driver was able to complete his route to Union Station.
