Woman stabbed to death at Gwinnett County motel
GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. - Gwinnett County Police have arrested a man they believe is responsible for stabbing a woman to death at a motel early Saturday morning.
Police say they were called out around 12:30 a.m. to the Extended Stay Motel on the 2200 block of Pelican Drive in Norcross after a security guard discovered a woman's body in one of the rooms.
The woman was identified as 38-year-old Claudine Hargrove of Norcross.
Police arrested 37-year-old Joseph Jackson of Norcross in connection with the murder. Neighbors say the two had a troubled relationship.
Officers say this was originally reported when someone at the motel called the guard to investigate a disturbance. When the guard went to the room to check it out, police say he found Hargrove's body inside.
Police say the woman was dead in the room with "injuries consistent to being stabbed."
One of the other residents of the hotel told FOX 5 that she heard arguing between the victim and a male shortly before the body was found.
"It was a male and a female arguing. It's constantly. It's just not just tonight, it's every night they were arguing and just tonight it was just a fatal ... not good at all," witness Ashia Witmore said.
Jackson is now facing felony murder and aggravated assault charges.
