Woman wearing nothing but towel steals car and family dog
HALL COUNTY, Ga. - A family in Flowery Branch has been reunited with their beloved dog Bear after a woman wearing only a towel stole their car while the poor pooch was inside.
Matt Sanders was planning to visit his dad for Father's Day. He was loading up his car and put his dog Bear inside.
"That dog goes everywhere with me," Sanders said. "It's just my child."
The car was running as Sanders ran inside to grab his phone.
When he came back out, he said his car door was locked and a woman was inside.
He describes the woman as a middle-aged Caucasian woman with light colored curly hair. She was only wearing a bath towel. He said he was in shock.
"She's in a towel, and I'm just like..."What?" Sanders said. "Then it hits me that someone is trying to steal my dog and my car," Sanders said.
Sanders tried to get the woman to let Bear go, but she drove through the yard and left him the dust.
"That's a person that I've spent my life with, and I want them back," Sanders said. "My life isn't complete right now. I'm torn up...torn up."
Early Sunday morning, officers of the Braselton Police Department found the woman at a Best Western hotel on Zion Church Road.
The dog was unharmed and both Bear and the car have been reunited with Sanders.
The female suspect has been taken to Northeast Georgia Medical Center for evaluation. There is currently no word on what she may be charged with.
