Alex Forbes

Meteorologist

Alex Forbes is an Emmy Award-winning and AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist with the FOX 5 Storm Team.

Prior to joining FOX 5, Forbes spent three years in Macon as a meteorologist at WMAZ-TV. He initially worked weekend evenings before being promoted to weekday morning meteorologist, covering severe weather, tornado outbreaks, and the ever-changing weather patterns of Georgia.

At FOX 5, Forbes is primarily seen on the weekend editions of Good Day Atlanta with Kaitlyn Pratt. Forbes also makes frequent appearances throughout the week with community-based live shots and forecasts using 3D graphics. He has contributed to the coverage of numerous major weather events, including Hurricane Helene, winter storms, and severe weather. Forbes was the 2026 Southeast Emmy Award recipient for Craft Achievement, Talent - Weather, and has been nominated for two other Emmy Awards during his career.

Forbes graduated from Mississippi State University in 2021 with a degree in professional meteorology and earned the Certified Broadcast Meteorologist designation from the American Meteorological Society in 2024. The CBM designation is awarded after a candidate passes a rigorous test and undergoes a review of their weathercasts. While in college, Forbes interned with the FOX 5 Storm Team, working alongside former chief meteorologist David Chandley and current chief meteorologist Joanne Feldman.

He grew up in Forsyth County, graduated from South Forsyth High School, and is no stranger to the weather the Peach State has to offer.
Outside of meteorology, Forbes is an avid news connoisseur, drone pilot, Braves fan, and die-hard college football fan. You can contact him at alex.forbes@fox.com, or on Facebook, Instagram, and X: @AForbesWX.
