16-year-old Bello scores, Atlanta tops New England

ATLANTA (AP) - Sixteen-year-old George Bello scored his first professional goal and Atlanta United stayed in front of the Supporters' Shield race with a 2-1 victory over the New England Revolution on Saturday.

Bello opened the scoring in the 17th minute, settling Leandro Gonzalez Pirez's pass along the left wing and finishing with a low, hard left-footed shot. Bello became the sixth-youngest player to score an MLS goal at 16 years, 257 days.

Julian Gressel made it 2-0 for Atlanta United (20-6-6) in the 52nd minute. Hector Villalba slipped a pass behind the defender and Gressel slotted it into the far corner.

Juan Agudelo scored in the 92nd minute for the Revs (8-12-11). New England was all but eliminated from playoff contention - eight points behind the sixth-place Montreal Impact with three games to go.

Atlanta's Miguel Almiron left in the 30th minute with an apparent leg injury.

RED BULLS 3, EARTHQUAKES 1

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - Bradley Wright-Phillips became the first MLS player to score at least 20 goals in three seasons and New York stayed a point back in the Supporters' Shield race.

Chris Wondolowski scored for San Jose in the 83rd minute to increase his career total to 144 - one behind Landon Donovan for the goals record. Wondolowski also made it nine straight seasons with at least 10 goals.

Alex Muyl opened the scoring with a putback in the 29th minute and Wright-Phillips doubled the lead for New York (20-7-5) with a header three minutes later. Aaron Long headed home Tim Parker's back heel flick in the 50th minute and the Red Bulls held on for their third win in a row.

The Earthquakes (4-20-8) lost their six straight.

LOS ANGELES FC 3, RAPIDS 0

COMMERCE CITY, Colo. (AP) - Adama Diomande scored twice and Los Angeles FC clinched a playoff spot in its expansion season with the victory over Colorado.

Diomande turned on Lee Nguyen's pass with a left-footed finish from the middle of the area to make it 2-0 in the 42nd minute. Diomande ran behind Aaron Kovar's and finished with his right foot to cap the scoring in the 48th. Walker Zimmerman opened the scoring in the 15th minute.

LAFC (15-8-8) moved into a second-place tie in the Western Conference with Sporting Kansas City. The Rapids (6-19-6) lost their seventh in a row and have been outscored 22-1 during that stretch.

GALAXY 1, SPORTING KANSAS CITY 1, TIE

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) - Johnny Russell scored in the 83rd minute and Sporting Kansas City clinched a playoff spot with the draw with Los Angeles.

Russell zig-zagged through four defenders on the right side of the penalty box and scored with a curling shot into the far corner.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic converted a penalty kick to open the scoring in the 25th minute for the Galaxy (12-11-9). It was the Swedish forward's 21st goal of the season. Ola Kamara drew the penalty against goalkeeper Tim Melia for a trip in the area.

Melia made a diving save to punch away Ashley Cole's chip shot in first-half stoppage time for Sporting KC (15-8-8).

UNION 5, MINNESOTA UNITED 1

CHESTER, Pa. (AP) - Fabrice-Jean Picault scored twice in the first half and added a late assist and Philadelphia clinched a playoff spot with the victory over Minnesota United.

Picault made it 3-0 in the 23rd minute, scoring on a well-played through ball from Keegan Rosenberry. Picault's curler in the 44th minute - his 10th goal of the season - gave the Union (15-12-5) a four-goal lead going into the half. Cory Burke opened the scoring in the eighth minute with a roller from beyond the area. Alejandro Bedoya tapped in Rosenberry's cross in the 17th minute to double the lead.

Ilsinho took Picault's pass and drilled home a one-hopper from 30 yards out to cap the scoring in the 79th minute. Darwin Quintero scored his 11th goal of the season for Minnesota United (11-17-3) in the 54th minute.

TIMBERS 4, REAL SALT LAKE 1

SANDY, Utah (AP) - Sebastian Blanco had a first-half assist and scored back-to-back goals in the second half to power Portland past Real Salt Lake.

Blanco made it 2-1 for the Timbers (14-9-9) in the 70th minute, chest-trapping Justen Glad's attempted clearance and putting back a left-footed shot from just beyond the top left corner of the 6-yard box. Blanco added another three minutes later from nearly the same spot, a right-footed blast into the upper corner to finish Diego Valeri's layoff.

Lucas Melano pounced on a lazy throw-in deep in RSL (13-12-7) territory to cap the scoring for Portland in the 88th minute.

Jeremy Ebobisse tapped in Blanco's cross in the 33rd minute to give the Timbers the lead. Jefferson Savarino smashed home Joao Plata's feed to pull Real Salt Lake even at 1 in the 55th minute.

FC DALLAS 2, ORLANDO CITY 0

FRISCO, Texas (AP) - Santiago Mosquera and Victor Ulloa scored back-to-back goals in the second half and FC Dallas beat Orlando City.

Mosquera gave FC Dallas (16-6-9) the lead in the 63rd minute, finishing into the upper right corner at the end of a four-pass buildup. Ulloa headed home Maxi Urruti's free kick in the 69th minute.

Orlando City (7-19-4) extended its winless streak to 11 games.

IMPACT 3, CREW 0

MONTREAL (AP) - Saphir Taider scored on a penalty kick and had assists to help Montreal beat Columbus.

Alejandro Silva and Ignacio Piatti also scored, and Evan Bush made nine saves for his ninth shutout of the season. The Impact (13-15-4) remained alive in the Eastern Conference playoff race.

Columbus (13-10-9) needs one point in its last two matches to secure a playoff spot.

WHITECAPS 2, TORONTO FC 1

TORONTO (AP) - Russell Teibert and Kei Kamara scored and Vancouver beat Toronto to eliminate the Reds from playoff contention a year after they won the MLS Cup.

Teibert scored in the fourth minute, and Lamara connected in the 78th for Vancouver (12-12-7). Doneil Henry tied it at 1 for Toronto (9-16-6) in the 73rd.
