Former Braves player Marquis Grissom honored as All Star Hometown Hero
SOUTH FULTON, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - A big honor for an Atlanta Braves great.
Former center fielder and World Series winner Marquis Grissom was celebrated at Welcome All Park in the City of South Fulton Monday.
Grissom is the first All-Star Hometown Hero from South Fulton.
After a ceremony, Grissom's foundation then worked with area kids on baseball skills at the park.
Grissom told the crowd he loves the game of baseball and loves sharing it with kids.
During Grissom's first season with the Braves, they won the 1995 World Series.
At that time, Grissom was the only player who was actually born and raised in Atlanta.
