Georgia football player Colbie Young pleads not guilty to assault charges

University of Georgia wide receiver Colbie Young has pleaded not guilty to charges of battery and assault on an unborn child, according to Dawg Nation. The senior from Binghamton, New York, was arrested on Oct. 8 and charged with two counts of battery and one count of assault related to an incident with his ex-girlfriend.

According to the arrest report, Young allegedly grabbed the woman, squeezing her torso and abdomen "very hard" as she tried to leave his apartment during an argument. Police noted visible injuries on the woman, including bruising and discoloration on her chest and redness on her flank. She was taken to a hospital for medical evaluation.

Initially, the woman told officers she believed Young was attempting to harm her. However, she has since retracted her statements. In an affidavit, she clarified, "I expressly retract any statements attributed to me that imply or state that Colbie Young attempted to cause any injury to my unborn child or me." She further asserted that Young did not hit, push, or harm her in any way.
