Hawks game on Saturday against Rockets at home postponed
ATLANTA - Those looking to watch the Atlanta Hawks duke it out with the Houston Rockets will have to wait.
The National Basketball Association announced that the game scheduled for Saturday afternoon between the two teams at State Farm Arena has been postponed.
The NBA says its decision to postpone was made "to prioritize the safety of the players, fans and staff due to the severe weather and hazardous icy conditions in the Atlanta area."
A winter storm pelted the Atlanta metro area with snow and freezing rain on Friday, causing problems for area roadways. Effects of the storm are expected to be felt for the next few days.

The NBA says the date for the rescheduled game will be announced at a later time.
Several planned events were canceled Friday evening, including a performance of "&Juliet" at Fox Theatre and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra's performance of "Four Seasons."
Additionally, major attractions like Zoo Atlanta and Georgia Aquarium were forced to close.
Georgia Aquarium is opening today, although they will be opening at 12 p.m. versus their regular time in order to give their staff and guests time to arrive safely.
Zoo Atlanta, however, will remain closed on Saturday, according to their Instagram account. As will Children's Museum of Atlanta.
Because of ongoing issues and power outages throughout metro Atlanta and North Georgia, if you were planning to visit a local attraction or attend a special event or performance today, it is highly recommended that you check with the venue before making the drive.
