Julien’s Auctions said it's the most money ever spent on a high school basketball jersey sold at an auction.
James wore the jersey on the cover of Sports Illustrated in 2002 when he was crowned "The Chosen One." He was attending St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Akron, Ohio.

James is an all-star NBA basketball player for the Los Angeles Laker. Along with Michael Jordan, "Magic" Johnson, and Coby Bryant, he is widely considered one of the greatest basketball players of all time.

The 39-year-old set new industry records throughout his career and achieved multiple accolades, including four NBA MVP awards, four NBA Finals NVP awards, four NBA championships, and two Olympic gold medals.
Born in Ohio, James started playing basketball at an early age and became recognized as an up-and-coming future NBA star while enrolled in high school. He was drafted to play for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2003 NBA draft and won Rookie of the Year in 2004.
In July, his son, Bronny, was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers. He was taken with the No. 55 overall pick, deep in the second round and with only three picks remaining in this year’s draft.
