Georgia Men's Hockey Team has a new member. Nine-year-old Alaina Rushing, who is battling cancer, has joined the Ice Dawgs after getting a special visit from the UGA players.

When Georgia lost in the SEC championship game, it was a tough pill to swallow for many, but once the consolation was playing in Miami in the Orange Bowl. Well, that may have helped just a little bit. The Dawgs practiced one last time Tuesday in Athens before taking off for South Florida.

The Georgia Men's basketball team put a nice bow on its pre-holiday slate with a matinee against North Florida Friday afternoon, looking to extend a seven-game winning streak at home, and a six-game streak overall.

The Dawgs are focused on having a complete class all the way around. With so many guys leaving for the portal all the new additions will be a welcome sight for this staff. FOX 5’s DJ Shockley had the chance to catch up with Coach Kirby Smart to discuss what he likes about his new set of Dawgs.

Texas, California, Virginia, New York among the many states Coach Kirby Smart and his staff went out to recruit and ultimately sign the number one recruiting class in the country, but the most important state is right here in Georgia where the Dawgs also took care of business signing some of the top players in the country as well as flipping the number one safety in the country in Buford’s KJ Bolden.

FOX 5 Sports sat down with Kirby Smart earlier in the week, and he understands the challenges the crimson tide pose in all three phases of the game.

One guy who's been crucial in the Dawgs run game is center Sedrick Van Pran. Sed's ability to move bodies is apparent when you watch him play, but his intelligence and leadership skills have been just as important in Georgia’s run to the SEC Championship game.

Cornerback Kamari Lassiter, in his freshman season, played in all 15 games in 2021, and became a starter for the Dawgs last year. Now as a junior, Lassiter is feared all over the sec for his lockdown ability.
